Director's Notes

I have enjoyed bringing this production to the theatre, and I hope the audience gets as much enjoyment out of it as we have done. I was touched by a note sent by Alan Ayckbourn himself offering best wishes to the cast for the performances.

Alan Ayckbourn’s plays are always a delight to direct; his observations of character and interaction are arguably second to none. It was written in the early 70’s; the swinging 60’s had given way to the flower power era, but even in those liberated times, polite society frowned on the likes of Norman Dewars and his philandering ways
