As I have always been an ardent fan of such playwrights as Oscar Wilde and J B Priestley, it is with great pleasure that I have been permitted to direct such a delightful comedy as “Earnest”.
The wit and manners of the time i.e. late 1800’s (no, I can’t quite go back that far personally – it just seems like it) are, I hope you will agree as superbly witty, not to say ironic, as when they were written. The many characters, whether drawn from real life or not, such as Lady Bracknell herself, will, I hope, bring a smile to the audience’s faces if not actually a belly laugh.
I should like to thank all of those involved in the production, including actors, back stage crew and front of house for their support and help, and, of course the audience, as without them there wouldn’t be much point.
