LLTC - Acting Workshop by LLTC
Acting Workshop
24th February 2008

***Please note Change of Date***

Another workshop is brewing. This time “Acting Techniques” with Steve and Janthea Brigden on Sunday 24th February. Those of you who have done a workshop with them before will know that they are great fun and very interesting and provide a lot of useful tips and techniques.

Acting is largely about putting yourself into a character honestly and with commitment. Trying things out and taking some risks is an essential step. This workshop will provide the opportunity to do this safely and to discover more about yourself and your ability. Voice, movement and improvisation will all be part of the day. We will look at characterisation and spend some time working on speeches. We would like you to bring a speech of no more than ten lines to work with. We will also look at and work with Shakespeare's sonnets so if you prefer to bring a sonnet to work with that's fine. Wear loose workable clothes. Come with an open mind and be prepared to participate fully and get the most out of the day. Bring of water. Lunch will be provided.

Janthea and Steve trained at The Central School of Speech and Drama. They earned their living as professional actors for many years.

Steve worked frequently in repertory Theatre around the country including Lancaster, Manchester, Nottingham and Coventry. Television appearances were numerous, Coronation Street, The BBC Shakespeare series, Tales of the Unexpected, Plays for Today, Two up Two Down, The Kenny Everett Show, Caucasian Chalk Circle and many more. He had the pleasure of working with Lord Lawrence Olivier in the TV block Buster "Lost Empires". Films include Hidden Agenda and Flash Gordon. Steve also worked as a fight director and taught and directed at Lamda, Central, Mountview and RADA. as well as choreographing fights for films and Theatre.

Janthea also did the rep circuit with long seasons at Crewe, Mold and Worthing. She worked extensively at The King's Head Theatre in Islington and transferred from there into the West End with two productions, 'Mr Cinders' and 'Easy Virtue'. Janthea was a nurse in the TV Series 'Angels' and appeared in The Professional, Tales of the Unexpected and many other productions. Janthea also worked as the casting director for The King's Head Theatre and casting assistant for London Weekend Television.
